Getting Started/First Steps
I’m interested in daycare for my dog, how do we get started?
We have some requirements the pup needs to meet for our daycare and boarding services. We require they are over 4 months old and spayed/neutered if they are over 8 months old. We also require that the pup is up to date on their Bordetella (Semi-annual vaccine is required), Distemper/Parvo, and Rabies vaccinations. As long as your pup meets all those requirements we can get you set up with a profile and scheduled for an evaluation. As long as your pup passes their evaluation, all of our services will be open to you.
What’s an evaluation?
An evaluation is a 15 minute trial to see how comfortable your pup is with the other dogs on the field, our staff, and in the general environment.
Can I be there during the evaluation?
Dogs behave differently when their parents are around and in order to truly evaluate how a pup will behave when they are in our care we need to see them without their parents present. Pup Parents are not permitted into the back areas when their dogs are on the fields. However, Parents are welcome to remain in our lobby during the evaluation. Our staff is happy to answer questions or give more details about our facility and care.
What vaccines are required?
We require up to date Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella vaccines. We do require the semi-annual Bordetella vaccine due to the volume of dogs we have every day, it is safer that everyone is getting this vaccine more frequently.
Where are you located?
We are located on Newark Avenue. We are on the pedestrian walkway, a block from the Grove St PATH station.
Where can I park?
How do I set up my profile?
To set up a profile please call the front desk at 201-435-8700 during business hours or email info@k9dergarten.com with your full name, phone number, address, and your pup’s most recent vaccination records! We can also set up profiles in person as well.
Online registration through our website is coming soon.
Boarding
What do I need to bring for a boarding stay?
You should bring any food or medication that your pup may need. We have plenty of bedding here for them to use but we absolutely recommend bringing an article of clothing that smells like you for your pup to sleep with to help with any anxiety they may have. Especially if it’s their first boarding stay!

At this time, we do not have a video feed, but we take daily pictures of the pups in the afternoon and upload them to Facebook and to our dogblog. Check it out: dogblog [link]
Do you have an outdoor area?
When can I drop my dog off for boarding?
What if my dog isn’t friendly?
What if I have a very nervous dog?
Dogs come with a variety of different personalities and we treat every dog as an individual. Our staff works hard to get to know each dog and what their particular needs are. For dogs that have anxiety or are very nervous, we will take time to soothe your dog or give them some private time in a quiet space. And for our overnight guests, we utilize different rooms, lounges, and holding areas to find the best place to lessen any anxiety.
Can I visit my dog during the day?
If you are missing your pup and want to spend a few minutes with them while they are in our care the staff is happy to bring your dog out to our lobby to visit with you. Although we encourage parents not to make a habit of this as it can sometimes confuse your dog.
